Howard Silverstone is a CPA with over 35 years’ experience in public accounting and forensic accounting. He is also a Chartered Accountant (England and Wales) and has experience on both sides of the Atlantic. Howard is also a certified fraud examiner and is Certified in Financial Forensics by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He has concentrated on forensic accounting since 1985. Howard regularly presents programs to the legal, accounting and insurance industries on the calculation of damages in financial disputes and corporate fraud.
Howard joined a national accounting firm, Stoy Hayward, in London, England in 1981 and moved to their international associate firm, Laventhol & Horwath, in 1985. In 1990, Howard joined a Philadelphia-based forensic accounting firm and in 1993 he became one of the founding members of the Philadelphia office of Lindquist Avey, an international Forensic and Litigation Accounting Firm. He later became a Principal in the firm, and in 1998 Lindquist Avey merged with Kroll Inc., the risk mitigation company.
Howard Silverstone has testified at trial and deposition on many occasions, in both the United States and overseas, and has worked on matters for national, regional and local law firms, insurance companies and corporations.
Howard Silverstone holds an accounting degree from the City of London Polytechnic (now London Metropolitan University). He has been quoted in many publications and has written articles for many periodicals, including the Legal Intelligencer (Philadelphia), Security Management magazine and is co-author of three books on fraud and forensic accounting.
Howard has extensive experience in matters ranging from construction claims and the calculation of economic damages in business interruption and contract dispute matters to fraud and white-collar crime investigations, fraudulent conveyance and real estate loan investigations. He has also specialized in providing assistance in entertainment industry disputes, such as copyright issues. He has extensive experience in the surety industry, as well as personal injury and wrongful death claims.
In June 2018, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II appointed Howard as a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the United Kingdom’s 2018 Birthday Honours List. This was awarded in recognition of Howard’s services to British business in the USA.
